library assistant

Would a library assistant in a university or public library, who wasn't engaged in teaching under 18's or vulnerable adults be subject to an Enhanced DBS? I would think not, but some employers seem to have a poor understanding or 'regulated activity'.

I agree with AB2014's reply. Even if it's not legally required for sorting books, working at the desk, etc. and not working directly with minors, you need to think about how you would address the situation if in future, your prospective boss casually asks you to take a children's reading group and to get a DBS check.
