Hello everyone, first post here,
Ive been on the register nearly 10 years and due to come of it first week of September, ive traveled abroad a fair few times never had any problems in Europe etc, until last year in France when i got pulled to one side for about minutes while some one took my passport away did a few checks, was then asked a number of questions and then went on my way.  This has never happened before and i was surprised it had happened this time . At one stage i didnt think I was going to get in but was just asked where i was stopping and how long, so fine in the end
However when i got home i read how this happened, what caused it and reading some police guidance which essentially said this marker stays on for five years unless reviewed etc and is dealt with by the NCB in Manchester
I am travelling out of Europe (hopefully in September and also in Europe once ive finished on the register.
So my question is this how exactly do i go about ensuring the local police force remove this "marker" on the day after on the register, what should i request and to whom should i address, i dont want to just phone them up, i need to ensure its done properly
If anyone has had experience of this please i would appreciate it

All schengen alerts should have been removed from the system by now. There is no need to request removal anymore.

Thanks for your message.  It confirms what I've heard from other quarters. I understood that alerts were journey specific and in any case had a limited shelf life.

All alerts generated by the UK should have been removed specifically because of Brexit, but that's not a benefit that any government minister will defend in parliament.... 😉

I think I am about to post a duplicate note as I have just posted about a similar situation. Rather than repeat myself and bloat the forum, I am very interested to understand who was written to / emailed to ensure that the EU markers were lifted? Who has had success in doing this?

I have had my UK Border markers removed and local police (Arresting and managing forces) have both indicated they have done what they needed to do, but I still get stopped on Entry and Exit in Spain from the UK... never anything re-entering UK though.

I would appreciate anyone's help in guiding me. I thought (hoped!) that things were automated, but I found I needed to drive all changes, and I suspect this is just another one I need to push over the line.

Thank you in advance

Technically, the UK owned the data records they created when they entered details into the Schengen system, so they would have been responsible for removing them. If any individual countries copied and retained entries before they were deleted, it would be on them to delete any information they hold. That is, if they don't rely on the exemption for "prevention and detection of crime".
