I know this will be old news to some as it happened a few months ago, but sadly Direct Line Group (ie. the owner of all the insurance companies that don't ask about convictions) is in the process of being sold to Aviva. It will be interesting to see what happens regarding disclosure after the sale. It could get expensive - my last renewal was £270 with Direct Line, the next 'cheapest' was £900 through a broker.

Homeprotect is good for home insurance, whilst they ask about criminal convictions they do ensure most offenders including SO's. I have had insurance with them for a few years now. Prices are reasonable too.

I did a car renewal quote with Aviva a few months ago when my current policy was up and they didn't ask about non motoring convictions. I didn't take the policy up as it was too expensive. I have also had insurance with Admiral in the past as well, if I remember correctly they ask about convictions but it is not a bar to getting insurance.
