As my offence was classed as a Sexual Offence, will this kind of record always go against me or can I get back to being able to apply for jobs in retail or hospitality again? I'm just so afraid of judgement and rejection. I mean, I heard that the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act doesn't even apply to Sexual Offences! How can I move forward??

Any advice would be awesome. Thanks all.

RE: Applying for jobs when Register ends

As far as I understand it’s not the SOR that extends the unspent period but a SHPO as it’s a separate order. As long as you don’t have a SHPO I thought it was possible in some situations that it could be classed as spent even while in the SOR.

RE: Applying for jobs when Register ends
I heard that the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act doesn't even apply to Sexual Offences! How can I move forward??
It's a yes it does... but....

If you are on the SOR then your offences are not spent until the SOR is up. My offence was (given the actual "sentence" part) spent 18 months ago, but because I'm on SOR for another 18 months it isn't. Once you are completely spent, then a standard check would reveal it, as would an enhanced check but a normal retail or hospitality job is not entitled to a standard or enhanced check.

So it completely depends on what your sentence was which, as has been said, we don't know,

RE: Applying for jobs when Register ends

What was your sentence and how long?
