If your licence was endorsed by the Court, which they normally are when you are disqualified, then I am afraid that your conviction will not be spent for 5 years. Sorry for this bad news, but people don't realise that when you are disqualified at Court the majority of the time they endorse your licence too, resulting in the 5 years.
I have attached a link to the Unlock Spent Poster, which show the endorsement by court bit.

Hi Forum,

I am hoping someone might be able to clarify a concern I have regarding spent periods on DR10 convictions.

In January this year I was convicted of driving with excess alcohol after a very foolish drive the morning after a night out.

I received a fine and an 24 month ban with the option to reduce to 18 months by undertaking the alcohol awareness course.

I understand that the spent period is when the ban ends - which will be January 2017. My query is after completion of the alcohol awareness course will my spent period also be reduce to 18 Months?

Many thanks in advance to anyone that might be able to help.

Best Regards
