Hi I would like some advice before I apply for a low level AS /AO government job. My convictions are spent I know there is a Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check - basic check - does this equate to a basic dbs / disclosure scotland check? If so am I correct in thinking of will not show spent convictions?

I would really like advice from someone with direct experience.

Thanks

Hi Bambi

As they've stated that its a basic check then I'd assume that this is what they'll be doing.

They've made it a little confusing as the DBS don't do basic checks. As you say, these would normally be done by Disclosure Scotland.

Can I just check, what job are you applying for and what Government department will you be working in?

Hi Bambi

Thanks for this link. It refers to having a Baseline Personnel Security check. This has several elements to it but as far as criminal record checks go, would only require a basic check through Disclosure Scotland.

Good luck with the application. Let us know how you get on.
