+xHi there My husband's conviction is now spent today after 5 years (hurrah). He wants to start applying for jobs and some of them require basic DBS checks. Does he need to do anything to get the conviction turned from unspent to spent or does it automatically drop off? I would do this - apply yourself to get one sent to you, in order to check it's been updated. The people running the DBS are not bright, and not efficient. It's cheap and easy to apply for it, get one sent to you, if it's wrong, challenge it so that when you really need it you won't have to worry that it's not blank. If it is blank, keep it around and carry it with you when travelling and stuff so you have it for peace of mind. If it isn't blank, complain until it gets fixed.
