A probation officer role does require an enhanced DBS and baring check as the role is exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act (you are not required to disclose filtered cautions and convictions) BPSS is the security vetting part of the application. Yes BPSS only undertake a basic DBS as part of vetting, but they will also have to have an enhanced dbs as part of the job application it’s two different checks

Should have said, both vacancies are civil service roles, available on the civil service job search website.

Just curious. I can understand why a PIP case manager role doesn't need a enhanced DBS as its basically just making decisions on applications.
But a probation officer role? I would of thought enhanced? So they wont be checking for spent convictions or barred lists checks?
They both list a DBS will be needed and the vetting level is BPSS, so when I read up it said they only check for unspent.
