Hello,

I have a conviction in the US.  Sentence was final in 2002, completed custody 21months plus 2 years probation in 2006.  By my reading my conviction is "spent" and I do not have to answer affirmatively on a UK application.

But this is for a position at a bank.  Are they an exception?  This is how the question reads on the application:

Have you ever been convicted of a Criminal Offence (declaration subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974)?
I can't figure out of the parentheses means they are not asking for spent convictions, or if they are putting that there because they are exempt.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

JCC
