Hi, thinking ahead for someone with a criminal record and potentially about to get a prison sentence - does anyone know if he would need to advise the bank that he has been to prison please? Thanks.

You don't have to tell the bank anything, unless they ask you specifically, but they might find out about the conviction from another source, for example if the offence is fraud or money laundering related, the person would most likely to placed on a blacklist held by the banks themselves.

Thank you, very helpful. The conviction is not money nor fraud related so hopefully on safe ground.
