+xHi All, I was unsure where to post this topic. I am potentially looking down the avenue of a review of my sentence and I’d like to employ the services of an LGBTQIA+ Legal firm or representative. Does anybody have any contacts? All the avenues I’ve explored so far have been dead ends. My trial was very heteronormative and I felt quite isolated through the process. With this potential appeal I want to feel comfortable with the people I employ. Any help would be amazing! Thanks Any legal representative needs to work within the realms of the law and as such sexuality should not be brought into the process and ultimately should not be an issue. My legal representation at my trial was atrocious, but have since worked with a legal firm which are much much better. Of course I was very green to what was going on initially and have learnt a lot over the years. I would suggest getting the thought that you need a specialist LGBTQ+ law firm out your head and start looking for any highly rated legal professional. Meet with them and discuss your requirements and ask what they can do for you. I have found that the best legal professional I have even met was someone I didn't particularly like (didn't dislike either though), wasn't particularly personable but he was exceptional in therms of knowledge, communication (very matter-of-fact) and his actions. One thing to be aware of, however, is that good often means expensive. If you are adamant that you need an LGBTQ+ specialist I would suggest contacting you local LGBTQ+ charities and see who the would suggest locally.
