Hi
I am currently looking to renew my campervan insurance but this year I do not have to disclose as my conviction is now spent.Smile, and so look elsewhere that those I have previously declared to.

That all sounds great but I am finding many firms have changed the question they ask about criminal offences!

Previously I was asked if I had any "unspent convictions" then the nature of the offence if yes, but I am finding now that they have removed the word "unspent"!. Then if you reply yes, they ask "what was the offence" and then if "spent or unspent".

My understanding is that to the first question I can say "NO" as it is spent but I am going to seek advice.

Anyone else found this?

Society suggests I must let go of all my expectations but I disagree, as whilst I have a voice, I have hope.

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope is for tomorrow else what is left if you remove a mans hope.

I hadn't noticed. Are you using a particular company? I know that some e.g. Churchill, Privelige, only ask about motoring convictions.

The situation across the UK is that only unspent convictions are relevant to insurance. Once your convictions are spent, you don't have to disclose them, however the question is asked. Don't take my word for it: Unlock and the Association of British Insurers (page 4) told me.

Yes. Only answer the questions you are asked (but check the policy documents, in case they are making assumptions about criminal record information).

Hi

I have tried various companies but as mine are spent I say no as per the act.

To me its just another way business is trying to get around certain things.

Society suggests I must let go of all my expectations but I disagree, as whilst I have a voice, I have hope.
