Evening.
Tonight i was talking to my (ex?)wife while seeing my son.
Was talking about the investigation time.
I was first told give or take 12 months (by rhe police and my solicitor)
Police then told me 4 months just for my laptop to be checked.
She was told by the officers searching the house, upto 2 years!
So im about a month from the knock and i dont know what to make of the timeframe now, my son could potentially be old enough to come see me when he wants to by the time my conviction would be spent.

Anyone with any current (post covid) investigation time frames from experience?

Thank again in advance.

Everyone will have a different experience, and it will vary anyway around the country. For me, Jan 2022 to August 2024. In the last 6 months I chased and was regularly told 'next week'.

Between getting the knock at my door, to the moment I got sentenced took about 9 months
I was told the speed of the case would ultimately come down to forensics examining devices. The solicitors I was appointed claimed in my area there was only 1 guy doing all of the forensics, given how shady this firm was though, how I was treated over all I doubt anything he said was even true.

Truly is anyone's guess.

I've heard of ranges from a matter of a couple of months (probably with full co-operation, confession & assistance) upto 3-4 years in cases where lots of computers/digital material need to be forensically examined.

Also depends massively on the force area involved.

I can only speculate, but because my solicitors told me "just plead guilty and you will not go to prison" was likely why my case only took a few months
After obtaining various reports, I noticed they were claiming all of my devices tested positive which I know to be untrue. When I questioned what was found and where exactly, they refused to give me an answer. So because I followed the advice I was given, it seems to me they (may have) lied in the reports to make it sound much worse than it really was.
I never got these reports while the case was on going either, I requested it many times but solicitors still refused to give me any documentation. Not until I made complaints 2 years later after sentencing when there was nothing I could do to dispute what was being put in these reports.

I believe i have read your story above before about the device's.
Thats one thing that sticks in my mind amongst a lot of other things that could happen.
I was told to say no comment at first interview as it is their job to prove anything and it wont go against me later if i do plead guilty (which tbh i dont see how i couldnt)
Solicitor said they are going to check your decices either way, so no comment now as you could say something very innocent but it could be twisted to be brought up again.
Anyway i guess ill wait and see
Cheers
