It would make commercial sense, but if they have prejudices against people with unspent convictions, or specific unspent convictions, they probably won't change. They'll just blame someone else, or Brexit, or lazy Brits or whoever. Amazon are prepared to pay a bonus of £1k to new starters, rather than drop their clean DBS policy, so I'd expect other employers to follow that line rather than be reasonable. Unfortunately. 🤬
As Chris Stacey said: Although its not formally part of the sentence that is handed down in court, the criminal record that someone comes away with effectively becomes a second sentence, which can have a long-lasting, if not lifelong, impact.
