It's not exactly breaking news, but I've been meaning to post this for some time, and have finally got round to it. "The Clink" is a restaurant where the majority of the staff are inmates of HMP High Down in Banstead, Surrey, most of whom go on to land catering jobs upon release. It was the winner of last year's Longford Prize (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longford_Prize). There's more about it in this article from the Independent (AndyH, you're not the only lefty on this site ) : www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/news/longford-prize-the-clink--a-prison-diner-no-one-wants-to-escape-6264038.html. Hopefully this will prompt some reminiscences from IanC and others about prison catering facilities in times gone by!
