+x+xI just thought i would add to this as i recently found out another *rosey* website has me at the top of Google search, my conviction is almost 2 decades old and i failed to get Google nor the ICO to help remove links on two previous attempts. Having read some positive outcomes on the forum i thought i would try again, using the template from Unlock etc. Intitial reply from Google: We need more information in order to process your request. Please reply to this request with full documentation attached confirming the specific criminal charges referenced on these URL(s) were dropped or otherwise resolved in your favor. If you were convicted of this crime, please ensure the documentation you submit also confirms the length of the sentence and the years during which it took place.
Generally, if information relates to criminal charges, we consider whether it is strictly necessary to continue to display the information in order to protect the freedom of information of our users, including to protect themselves from the possibility of similar future crimes by obtaining that information. In considering the time period before we delist information about a crime, we also look to local rules around when convictions become spent, expunged, or similar - that is, procedures that allow those with criminal convictions to put the conviction behind them in some official way.
Without the requested documentation attached to your reply, we cannot take further action on your request. I sent them exactly what they asked for, but i got the same generic reply 3 times over! Followed by this: Google LLC has decided not to take action on these URLs at the moment Is your conviction spent? Yes, was spent for over 15 years ago!

Well, looks like it mostly worked already. The main tabloid story disappeared. The Pressreader link disappeared. But then it kept re-appearing Red Rose style with different after-tags. E.g. ( I edited the article URL to make it nonsense/dead link). https://www.pressreader.com/uk/stirling-observer/20170106/28164746358910?srsltid=AfmBOoqpz1VePTmesl4S3txgRCR4AGaWUA4gonbGW32tXpzPYMlG9Zn5 But worse, the ?srsltid= is actually a google thing, not a thing native/intrinsic to that particular website. It's different each time you hit "search". So what I'll do is ask them to delist https://www.pressreader.com/uk/stirling-observer/20170106/28164746358910https://www.pressreader.com/uk/stirling-observer/20170106/28164746358910/https://www.pressreader.com/uk/stirling-observer/20170106/28164746358910?Whatever works? Anyone else slightly worried of testing their patience and just having them throw the book at you in frustration?

+x+x+xI didn't get a confirmation email, is that normal? Just a little confirmation page and incident number. You should've gotten an initial email too, or at least I did. But it was just a generic thing saying it's in the queue, here's your reference number so I wouldn't think too much of it if you've gotten a number. Depending how busy they are and how complex yours might be in terms of reviewing it all you should hopefully hear back in a couple of days. Once you get an email confirming the removals KEEP THAT EMAIL Then moving forward if any new links pops up just reply to that email with the new URL(s) and I've had zero issue with them removing them, usually within 24hours. Fingers crossed for you! "Hello, Thanks for reaching out to us. We had a look at these URLs: - - We'll delist these URLs from search results for queries related to your name. We'll delist them in your country, and from other European versions of Google Search. It may take a few hours for this to happen. The content itself will still be online, but you can ask the site's webmaster to take it down. You can learn how to contact a site's webmaster on our Help Center."
I'll wait a bit before checking the outcomes, but if it works I'm elated. The only thread remaining to my punishment is some ugly rumours. And Bing. The moral of the story is, keep is short and sweet, don't plead or overshare, just lean on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. And a benchmark reached -- jail time from 10 years ago. It might be a nice idea to begin a single long term thread where people share winning pleas/formulations.
Oh God, there's an American dimension to my life and work though I wonder if they meant "queries related to your name [globally], AND deliisted [generally] in Google searches in UK and Europe",
Wooo! That's the exact email I got/get. That's the one to keep an hold of I mentioned earlier! In my experience they usually disappear within 24hours of that email. I will get round to trying to Bing again at some point but it's not a huge priority just now.

+x+x+x+xI thought there used to be a way of chatting with you in a DM. I was going to ask you for the link or address where you actually asked for help from google. I'm not going to need it for another 2 years though If there is a chat feature it's certainly not something I've ever come across! Regardless, here you go. Google Removal InformationThis is just the overview page to tell you what sort of things they remove and all that. Google Removal FormThis is the actual removal form if you just want to skip all that. Well I'm finally doing it...I'll let you know how they respond to a spend 18 month sentence. So those are THE links where the magic happens? No additional facility to speak of? Here's my concern, going in: "Click here if your name (or your client's name) is not the search query that produces the result(s) that you wish to have delisted"
Problem is, people google me by the wrong spelling of my name all the time, and get the offending article. Nope, not other additional facility needed. It's been a hot minute since I've had to fill out the form but from memory there is an option for alternate spellings. I used it to cover all bases "think like John/Johnathan" etc. I didn't get a confirmation email, is that normal? Just a little confirmation page and incident number.
